The game's relentless pursuit of gore certainly has a lot to do with its notoriety. The exaggerated level of mayhem, which includes niceties such as dismembering opponents with chainsaws and hurling them into oversized jet turbines, is not something that will appeal to everyone; it's certainly not my cup of blood, er, tea.
